  Hi, I've been suffering of chronic migraines for 45 years. In the last 5 years I was able to find a regimen that helps me manage them really well. I take 2 medications:

  -topamax 50mg (or the brand Trokendi) to prevent them (it's an anti-epileptic medication that may work for some to prevent or reduce the frequency of migraines)

  -sumatriptan injections 6 mg (or the brand Imitrex/Imigran) only at the onset of a migraine
