Craving something crispy, healthy, and delicious? These Baked Sweet Potato Fries are easy to make, full of flavour, and perfect for any meal or snack. Let’s whip them up!
⭐ Ingredients:
-
2 large sweet potatoes (peeled if preferred)
-
2 tablespoons olive oil (or avocado oil)
-
1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional – for extra crispiness)
-
1/2 teaspoon paprika (or smoked paprika for a smoky flavor)
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
-
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
-
Optional: pinch of cayenne for heat or cinnamon for a sweet twist
⭐ Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven
-
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
-
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (helps reduce sticking and crisp up the fries).
2. Cut the Sweet Potatoes
-
Cut sweet potatoes into thin, even sticks (about 1/4 inch thick). Try to make them as uniform as possible for even cooking.
3. Soak the Fries (Optional but helps crisp them)
-
Soak the cut fries in cold water for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
-
Drain and pat very dry with a clean towel or paper towels.
4. Toss with Oil and Seasonings
-
In a large bowl, toss the fries with olive oil.
-
Sprinkle on the cornstarch and toss again (this creates a light coating for extra crisp).
-
Add paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and any optional spices.
5. Arrange on the Baking Sheet
-
Spread the fries out in a single layer with space between each fry. Don’t crowd the pan, use two pans if needed!
6. Bake
-
Bake for 15 minutes.
-
Flip each fry using tongs or a spatula.
-
Bake for another 10–15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy on the edges.
7. Serve
-
Let them cool slightly. Serve warm with your favourite dip like garlic aioli, ketchup, or a yoghurt-based sauce.
⭐ Tips:
-
For best crispiness: don’t skip drying the fries after soaking.
-
Want extra crunch? Broil them for the last 2 minutes, but watch closely to prevent burning!
-
Great for kids, snacks, or a side dish to burgers, grilled meats, or veggie bowls.
