My Friend Is Being Blamed for Training She Never Received
By JugglingNothing on
A friend of mine started a state office job two months ago, and she already feels set up to fail. Her assigned trainer is frequently unavailable, and when she is there, she’s usually too busy catching up on her own work to provide much guidance.
My friend is now receiving tasks nobody has shown her how to complete. When she asks questions, her trainer becomes irritated. The trainer complained to their boss, who called my friend “annoying” and said she asks too many questions.
The confusing part is that she’s also criticized when she doesn’t know how to complete something. She has started taking detailed notes and searching for written procedures, but many tasks still require guidance she hasn’t received.
She needs the benefits, and good jobs are scarce in her town. Should she document the training gaps and stay while quietly applying elsewhere, or request one formal conversation with management first?
