I want to work, but I can’t seem to stay in a job

By JugglingNothing on

A few years ago, I returned to college to train as a counselor after several unsuccessful attempts at higher education. I’m now in my graduating year, which still feels difficult to believe. While preparing for my next step, I’ve been taking immediate-start jobs to pay the bills. The problem is that after a few weeks, the repetition and lack of challenge become unbearable. I get bored, frustrated, and eventually resign. I’ve gone through about seven jobs this year. I’m tired of repeating the cycle and explaining another short stay on my résumé. I want to work, but I haven’t found an environment that keeps me engaged without leaving me overwhelmed. I’ve now been referred to a specialist employment advisor who works with neurodivergent people. I’m hoping this will help me understand what kind of structure, variety, and support I need to stay in a role.
