I hate being in the house... does anyone else need to be outside constantly?

By Eli Mercer on

I keep wondering if anyone else on the spectrum feels like this... Now that I’m transitioning into living alone, I’ve realised something really hard: I cannot cope with being indoors for too long. If I don’t go outside every day, I get overwhelmed, shut down, and sometimes end up crying for hours. It’s like my body physically needs fresh air, movement, and outdoor sensory input just to stay regulated.. The problem? I’ve always relied on someone to go out with, and now that I’m on my own, I don’t have that built-in structure anymore. When I lived with family, at least there was school or weekend outings. Now it’s just… me. And Sundays are the worst, it’s like the walls close in, and I can’t distract myself no matter what I try... People keep saying “just stay inside and relax” or “you’ll get used to it,” but sitting in a room all day feels depressing to me, even if I have all the hobbies, shows, or comfort items in the world.
