What My Friend Wishes They Knew After the Diagnosis
By Charlotte on
When my friend’s son was diagnosed with autism and level 2 support needs, they spent hours comparing his development with other children. Instead of providing answers, it made their anxiety worse.
Early intervention gave the family helpful support, but their son continued growing at his own pace. My friend slowly learned to notice his progress without measuring it against someone else’s timeline.
They also sought help for their anxiety. Taking care of their own well-being made it easier to be present and enjoy their son as he is today.
What helped you handle the uncertainty after your child’s diagnosis?
