The easiest way to make green beans is actually exciting

By Charlotte on

Green beans don’t always get the love they deserve, but here’s a little trick that completely changes the game: butter and sliced almonds.

When the butter melts, it coats each bean in a silky richness, while the almonds toast just enough to bring a warm, nutty crunch. It’s such a small addition, but it transforms green beans from an everyday side into something that feels special.

In my family, these were always called “Sunday beans.” My grandma made them for every big dinner  right alongside roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy. As a kid, I wasn’t exactly a vegetable fan, but these buttery, crunchy beans were the one thing I’d happily pile onto my plate.

Even now, that flavor takes me straight back to her kitchen table.

Do you dress up your green beans, or keep them simple with just salt and pepper? If you’ve never tried the butter-and-almond combo, it’s quick, easy, and makes even the simplest meal feel like a little celebration.
