I watched this video claiming we have “2 years before everything changes” because of AI

In this interview an AI pioneer, often described as one of the “godfathers of AI,” talks about how fast things are accelerating and suggests we may have about two years before AI brings massive, possibly irreversible changes to society.
It sounded more like concern from someone who understands the technology deeply and is worried about alignment, control, and how unprepared our institutions really are.
AI development appears to be moving faster than regulation, governance, and even public understanding. The concern isn’t only about jobs being automated away, but about systems becoming more capable before we’ve figured out how to properly oversee or constrain them.
At the same time, we’ve heard strong warnings before with other technologies, and real-world adoption often turns out slower and messier than predicted.
I’m not an AI engineer, just someone trying to think critically about where this is going. I’m curious how people here see it, especially those closer to the technical side.
