Is Apple About to Change What an iPhone Looks Like?

By JugglingNothing on

Apple has officially set its next big event for September 9, and this year's rumors are more interesting than the usual faster chip and better camera story. The big possibility is that Apple could expand the iPhone lineup in a much bigger way, with reports pointing toward a foldable iPhone and a possible new ultra-premium model. A foldable would be the most significant change. Apple has spent years watching Samsung, Google, and other companies experiment with foldable phones. If Apple finally enters the market, it won't be introducing the concept. It will be trying to make its version polished enough for mainstream iPhone users. That's a different challenge. Apple customers will probably expect the hinge, software, durability, and overall experience to feel like a finished product rather than an experiment. And then there's the rumored Ultra model. If Apple really creates another tier above the Pro Max, the iPhone could start looking less like one product line and more like an entire family of devices designed for very different customers. That's what I'm most interested in seeing at the September event. Not another small camera improvement. Not another processor benchmark. I want to know whether Apple is finally willing to change the basic idea of what an iPhone is.
