🔴 Watched Man vs Baby — fun Christmas watch, but not Rowan Atkinson’s best
By JugglingNothing on
Yesterday I watched Man vs Baby starring Rowan Atkinson, our very own Mr. Bean, and as a long-time fan, I went in with high expectations.
I’ll say this first: it’s an enjoyable Christmas story. The setup is simple, festive, and easy to watch. Rowan still has that physical comedy timing that made so many of us grow up laughing, and the cast did a solid job supporting the chaos. There were moments that genuinely made me smile, especially the classic “everything goes wrong” situations that feel very Bean-like.
That said, if I’m being honest as a fan, this didn’t feel like Rowan Atkinson at his strongest. The comedy felt a bit safe and predictable, and while the baby vs adult chaos was amusing, it didn’t reach the brilliance or sharpness I associate with his best work.
Personally, I still prefer Johnny English. That franchise, for me, strikes a better balance between slapstick, clever writing, and character. Johnny English feels more layered and rewatchable, while Man vs Baby feels more like a light seasonal distraction than a standout entry in his career.
Overall, I don’t regret watching it, especially as a Christmas-time movie. It’s fun, harmless, and nostalgic in places. But if someone asked me to recommend the best of Rowan Atkinson, I’d still point them toward Mr. Bean or Johnny English without hesitation.
