Fashion feels different in 2026, curious if anyone else notices this
By Eli Mercer on
I’m noticing a shift in fashion lately, and I wanted to put it into words and see if it resonates with anyone here.
Baggy jeans aren’t wrong. I still like them. But for me, they’re not doing the heavy lifting they used to. They feel more like background clothes now. That’s why I’ve been gravitating toward cigarette jeans they feel intentional, structured, and a little more grown-up. They make sense for where I’m heading in 2026. Clear lines, predictable fit, no guessing.
I’m also finding myself really tuned into how clothes feel, not just how they look:
- Sweaters are becoming a safe choice again soft, contained, familiar
- Sleeveless dresses work for me because they reduce bulk and overheating
- Matching sets (pullover sweatshirt + joggers / tracksuit sets) are calming because everything already “goes” and I don’t have to think.
I think part of this is sensory. Part of it is routine. And part of it is wanting my clothes to communicate intention without being loud. I don’t want to chase trends I want clothes that feel regulated, functional, and quietly put-together.
Curious if anyone else here is feeling a similar shift for 2026 less about what’s trendy and more about what feels clear, comfortable, and sustainable for daily life.
