Consistency beats perfection when you’re trying to lose weight
By JugglingNothing on
One thing I’m learning and constantly reminding myself is this: doing something consistently matters way more than doing it perfectly.
I used to get stuck in the all-or-nothing mindset. If I couldn’t walk for 45 minutes, I wouldn’t walk at all. If I couldn’t eat perfectly all day, I’d give up by lunch. And honestly? That mindset kept me stuck longer than anything else.
Now I’m trying to shift how I think about progress. If I go for a 10-minute walk instead of 30, that still counts. If I cook one balanced meal and the rest of the day is messy, that still counts. If I move my body even when I don’t feel motivated, that still counts.
When walking, I don’t worry about pace or distance anymore. Some days it’s slow. Some days I turn back early. Some days I just walk around the block. The important part is that I showed up again.
Weight loss and health aren’t built on perfect days. They’re built on a lot of very ordinary days where you did *something* instead of nothing.
If you’re in this community and feeling frustrated or behind, I just want to say this:
You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to keep going.
