I Didn't Realize How Much Added Sugar I Was Eating Until I Started Paying Attention
By Charlotte on
For the longest time, I thought dessert was my biggest source of sugar.
I was wrong.
Most of it was coming from soda, sweet coffee drinks, flavored yogurt, sauces, snacks, and little things I grabbed throughout the day without thinking about it.
Once I started cutting back on added sugar, I realized how often I had been eating it out of habit rather than hunger.
The first few days weren't easy.
I definitely noticed the cravings, but after a week or two they became much easier to manage.
One thing that surprised me was how much easier it became to stay within my calorie goals.
I wasn't constantly reaching for another sugary snack, and meals with more protein, fiber, fruit, and vegetables kept me full longer.
Did it magically give me a flat stomach?
No.
But it made building healthier habits much easier, and over time those habits helped me make real progress.
For me, reducing added sugar wasn't about cutting out every treat forever.
It was about becoming more aware of how much of it had quietly worked its way into my everyday routine.
