What Helped You Get Better at Pull-Ups in a Bigger Body?
By JugglingNothing on
Two people can follow the same pull-up program and have completely different experiences. A lighter person might progress quickly, while someone carrying more body weight may need a longer runway.
That does not mean the heavier person is weaker or less committed. Pull-ups require you to move your entire body, so body size can change how the exercise feels.
For those over 30 who have experienced obesity, what helped you make progress? Did you use resistance bands, an assisted machine, slow negatives, rows, or grip exercises?
Did changing your body weight affect your numbers, or was consistent strength training the bigger factor? I would also like to know whether daily practice helped or created shoulder and elbow discomfort.
Success does not have to mean completing 30 pull-ups. Your first controlled rep, a longer dead hang, or using less assistance can all represent real progress.
