My friend lost his job last week, and I’m worried about him
By Real Ray C on
My friend lost his job last week, and I can see he’s really struggling. He has a family to support, bills piling up, and it feels like the weight of it all is just too much sometimes. Normally, he’s the one cheering everyone else up, but now he’s withdrawn, quiet, and I can tell he’s carrying a lot of heavy thoughts.
I don’t want to pry too much, but I also hate seeing him like this. I know depression doesn’t always look dramatic, sometimes it’s just a cloud over someone you care about, making even small tasks feel impossible. I’ve tried checking in, texting, and being around when he needs to talk, but it’s hard because I don’t want to push him away or make him feel worse.
I guess I’m posting here because I need advice on how to support him without overstepping. How do you help someone who’s depressed, stressed about providing for their family, and feeling like the rug has been pulled from under them? What small gestures actually make a difference when someone is in this situation?
I just want him to know he’s not alone and maybe, in some small way, help him feel a little less hopeless.
