Slowing down to notice the small wins has been weirdly therapeutic

Most days my brain feels like it’s running five tabs at once, all playing different audio. I’m usually focused on what I didn’t finish, what I forgot, or what I should already be better at by now.
Lately, though, I’ve been trying something simple: actually noticing the small steps I take every day. Getting out of bed on time. Making myself a real meal instead of skipping it. None of these are big milestones, but for me, they take effort.
When I pause and acknowledge those things, it feels… grounding. Almost therapeutic. It quiets the constant self-criticism for a moment. Instead of ending the day feeling behind, I can say, “Okay, I did *something* today. I showed up in my own way.”
ADHD makes it really easy to overlook progress because it doesn’t look neat or linear. Some days I’m productive, other days I’m just surviving. Learning to appreciate the simple steps helps me be a little kinder to myself on the messy days.
I’m not cured. I still procrastinate. I still get overwhelmed. But noticing the small wins makes the weight feel lighter.
