Some days leaving the house feels impossible
By JugglingNothing on
Yesterday was one of those days. I woke up around 10 a.m., which is late for me, but I couldn’t bring myself to get out of bed any earlier. It was exhausting before I even stood up.
I forced myself to shower, brush my teeth, and make coffee. That small routine felt like climbing a mountain. I spent the morning just pacing between my kitchen and living room, trying to keep the voices from spiraling. Even answering a text felt overwhelming.
I didn’t leave the apartment. I didn’t go for a walk. I just stayed home, trying to stay grounded. But I also used my coping tools: I wrote down my thoughts, did a short breathing exercise, and put on a playlist that usually helps drown out the noise. By evening, I felt a little calmer, a little more in control.
It’s frustrating because I hate how much this disorder can shrink my world. But I’m learning that even on days when leaving the house is impossible, small routines and little victories matter. Making coffee, taking a shower, journaling those things count. They’re my way of saying, "I can survive today."
