Can someone help me figure out how to stop boozing? I’m terrified for my friend.

I don’t usually post here, but I’m really scared and I don’t know what else to do. My friend is drinking so much that he’s almost losing everything he’s worked for. I’m talking his family, his job, and his home things he spent years building all at risk because of alcohol.

I’ve seen him spiral over the past months. He hides bottles, promises he’ll stop, cries about how he hates himself and then drinks again. He’s not a bad person. He’s smart, funny, kind… but the alcohol keeps taking over. I feel helpless watching him self-destruct.

I don’t want to see him hit rock bottom, but I also know that saying “just stop” doesn’t work. I don’t know the right words, the right treatment, or the right way to even support him without enabling him.

Has anyone here been in this place where alcohol almost stole everything from you and found a way out? What worked? How did you start? How did you convince yourself to try again after failing before?

I want to believe that there’s hope, that he can get his life back. I just don’t know how to help him start. Any advice, experiences, or words of encouragement would mean the world.
