When did your baby begin reaching their milestones?
By JugglingNothing on
I know every child with Down syndrome develops in their own way, but hearing real experiences from other parents can sometimes feel more reassuring than looking at a milestone chart.
For parents whose babies had little or no noticeable low muscle tone, when did they begin sitting, crawling, standing, walking, or saying their first words? Did progress happen gradually, or were there long pauses followed by several new skills?
The early months can still be filled with the familiar parts of having a baby—late-night feedings, diapers, funny faces, changing sleep patterns, and slowly discovering their personality.
I understand that muscle tone is only one part of development. Health needs, therapy, personality, and many other factors can influence when a child reaches a milestone, so I am not looking for one “correct” timeline.
I would simply love to hear from parents who have been there. What did your child’s development look like, and what helped you enjoy each stage without feeling pressured by the calendar?
