Health anxiety makes everything feel serious even when you’re told you’re fine

Health anxiety is exhausting because the symptoms feel real. When anxiety hits, a tight chest, dizziness, or a racing heart can instantly make you think something is seriously wrong.
That’s what makes it so hard to explain to people. You’re not making it up. Your body genuinely feels like it’s in danger.
One of the hardest parts for me has been dealing with doctors while already feeling scared. Sometimes I leave appointments feeling dismissed, even when tests come back normal. The experience sticks with me longer than people realize.
When you live with health anxiety, reassurance isn’t always simple. Your brain keeps questioning things, even after being told you’re okay.
What helped me was learning that physical sensations don’t always mean something dangerous is happening. Anxiety can create intense symptoms that feel convincing, even when your body is safe.
If you struggle with health anxiety, you’re not alone. It can affect how you think, how you feel physically, and how you respond to medical situations.
