Severe anxiety felt worse than depression for me...

By JugglingNothing on

I've lived with both anxiety and depression, and while they're both incredibly difficult, severe anxiety was harder for me personally. Depression made life feel heavy. It drained my motivation, energy, and interest in things I normally cared about. But severe anxiety felt like I was stuck in survival mode. My heart would race for no obvious reason. My chest would tighten. I'd struggle to catch a full breath. Sometimes I was convinced something was seriously wrong, even when doctors told me everything looked normal. The fear felt real every single time. That's what made it so exhausting. It wasn't just worrying about things. It felt like my body was constantly preparing for a disaster that never came. Looking back, I think many people underestimate how physical anxiety can be. When it's severe, it affects much more than your thoughts. It can impact your sleep, concentration, energy levels, relationships, and overall quality of life. That said, I've learned that anxiety and depression affect people differently. What feels harder for one person may not be the same for someone else. For me, severe anxiety was more difficult because of the constant sense of urgency and the physical symptoms that came with it. For those who've experienced both, which felt harder for you and why?
