Does Anyone Else Feel Like Anxiety Has Stolen Their Motivation?

By Eli Mercer on

I miss the version of me that couldn't wait to start new projects, make plans, and chase goals. Now, there are days when answering a text or getting out of bed feels like I've already run a marathon. The frustrating part is that I still *want* to do things. I want to study, work, clean my room, see friends, and take care of myself. My mind just feels stuck, like every task is bigger than it really is. Then the guilt sets in. I watch opportunities pass by, my to-do list gets longer, and I start wondering what's wrong with me. The more overwhelmed I feel, the harder it becomes to take the first step. I've slowly realized that anxiety doesn't just create worry. It can drain your energy, your focus, and your confidence until even simple tasks feel impossible. Lately, I've stopped measuring progress by how much I accomplish. Instead, I celebrate the small wins: a shower, a short walk, finishing one assignment, or eating a proper meal. Those moments may seem small, but they're proof that I'm still moving forward.
