Does Anyone Else Feel Drained Just Thinking About a Task?

By Real Ray C on

Sometimes my anxiety doesn’t feel like fear. It feels like exhaustion before I’ve even started. Exercise, errands, social plans, or even answering a message can seem like they’ll require more energy than I have. The task may be manageable, but my brain has already decided it will drain me. What helps is making the first step very small. Instead of committing to a full workout, I try ten minutes and see how I feel. Instead of thinking about every errand, I focus on getting dressed or walking to the car. Sometimes I still need to stop, and that’s okay. Other times, the heaviness eases once I begin. If the fatigue is new, severe, constant, or affecting daily life, it’s worth discussing with a healthcare professional instead of assuming anxiety is the cause. Does this happen to anyone else?
