Hello, Everyone!!! Introducing myself :)
By YourChild.org on
Hello, I’m Russell Lloyd 😀
I’m a parent, advocate, and mentor who truly enjoys helping families navigate the sometimes confusing world of special education and school support!
My journey into this work began more than twenty years ago when my own children were diagnosed with autism. Like many parents, I suddenly found myself trying to understand evaluations, therapies, IEP meetings, and a school system that doesn’t always make things easy to figure out. Over time, I dove in—learning the laws, the processes, and the strategies that help children receive the support they need to thrive.
As other families began asking for help, that experience naturally grew into the work I do today. Through YourChild.org, I offer professional advocacy and guidance for families who want experienced support navigating school meetings, understanding their child’s rights, and making sure the right services are in place.
I also wrote a book, The Advocate Parent: Becoming the Voice Your Child Needs, where I share many of the lessons I learned along the way so other parents can feel more confident and less alone. You can find the book here: https://a.co/d/0d1lcZou.
I also genuinely enjoy connecting with parents and hearing what they’re going through! Every family’s story is different, and sometimes just talking through a situation can make things feel a lot clearer. If you’re dealing with a new diagnosis, an upcoming IEP meeting, family matters, or just trying to figure out what to do next, I’m always happy to read and reply to your questions! If you’d like to share what challenges you’re facing, I’d love to hear from you!
