Too many parents spend years gathering information

5 Traits of Effective Parent Advocates
1. Awareness – to recognize there is a problem
2. Courage – to speak up when something isn’t right
3. Curiosity – to ask questions and seek the truth
4. Persistence – to keep going when the answer is no
5. Wisdom – to know when it’s time to get help
The parents who create the biggest changes for their children are rarely experts in special education.
They don’t know every law.
They don’t know every regulation.
They don’t have all the answers.
What they do have is the willingness to act.
They recognize when their child is struggling.
They ask questions when the data doesn’t match the story.
They keep pushing when delays and excuses start piling up.
And when they realize they can’t do it alone, they bring in help.
Too many parents spend years gathering information while their child continues to lose ground.
Awareness without action changes nothing.
Action is what changes outcomes.
