Never used a dating app — am I missing out or just saving myself a headache? 😅

By Eli Mercer on

So here’s a small confession I’ve never used a dating app. Not once. Every time someone mentions Bumble, Hinge, or Tinder, I freeze up a little. It’s not even fear of rejection, it’s more like… I don’t know how people do it. The constant swiping, messaging, pretending to sound effortlessly cool, it all feels like a game I was never taught to play. I’m not against meeting people, I just prefer connections that happen naturally — like through shared spaces or random conversations that actually mean something. But lately, it feels like if you’re not online, you’re invisible. Everyone says “that’s just how people meet now,” but honestly, it sounds exhausting. For those of you who’ve actually found love (or at least decent experiences) through dating apps how do you keep it from feeling fake or forced?
And for anyone else who’s never tried them… are we just hopeless romantics stuck in the wrong era? 😅
