If you like someone, don’t ruin it by coming on too strong

By JugglingNothing on

I’ve been thinking about something that happens a lot in dating. Someone develops a crush, and the first instinct is to go all in. Text constantly, push for attention, and try to move things forward quickly. But honestly, that can backfire.

If you like someone and you’re not sure how they feel yet, the worst thing you can do is pursue them aggressively. Give them time and space. Interest needs room to grow.

Sometimes a person might actually like you, or at least be open to the possibility. But when someone comes on too strong it can feel overwhelming. I’ve had situations where I liked someone and I knew they liked me too. But the way they pushed things made me uncomfortable.

It started to feel like my boundaries didn’t matter. The message was like, “I like you, so hurry up and like me back.” That kind of pressure changes the whole dynamic. Instead of feeling excited about the connection, it starts to feel stressful.

At that point it’s hard to even imagine being in a relationship with that person, because respect and comfort are already missing.

If you’re interested in someone, show it in a calm and respectful way. Let things develop naturally. Attraction grows much better when both people feel relaxed and respected, not rushed.
