Should You Text Him First?
By Charlotte on
A friend recently asked me if she should text a guy she had been talking to. Everything seemed fine between them, but he'd suddenly gone quiet for a few days.
She wanted to reach out but worried she'd look desperate or make it seem like she cared more than he did.
Honestly, I told her to text him if she wanted to.
There is nothing wrong with showing interest. Dating shouldn't be a game where both people sit around waiting to see who can care less.
Sometimes a guy is busy. Sometimes he's giving you space. Sometimes he genuinely doesn't know whether you're interested.
One simple text can clear up a lot of unnecessary guessing.
But there's an important difference between initiating and chasing.
Send the message and pay attention to what happens afterward. Does he respond with enthusiasm? Does he ask questions? Does he keep the conversation going? Does he eventually make an effort to contact you?
That's what matters.
If you're always starting the conversations, planning everything, and trying to keep his attention while he gives you the bare minimum, then the problem isn't that you didn't text enough.
It's that the effort isn't mutual. So yes, text him.
Just don't keep knocking on a door that someone clearly isn't interested in opening.
